Advantages of Dual-seam Silos

ADVANTAGES IN THE USE OF "LIPP" SYSTEM SILOS
TO THE TRADITIONAL BOLTED ONES
In the building process of a "LIPP" silo bolts are not used; therefore, the rust that usually forms because of the screwing of the bolt head (and that extends on the panels themselves) is completely avoided.

The bolts for the clamping of the press bent panels of the roof and for the clamping of the roof to the cylinder walls are really few but, however, they are absolutely protected from the outside atmospheric conditions.

The "LIPP" silo is built directly on spot by using special machineries that, thanks to their advanced technology, enable us to build cylinders from 2.7 meters to 38 meters diameter and height, up to 35,00 meters .

This advantage allows the engineers, the designer and the user himself, to exploit to the utmost the space available as well as a cheaper and more intelligent employment of the building site.

The thickness of the steel plate for the erection of cylinder of a "LIPP" silo, goes from a minimum of 2 mm to a maximum of 4.00 mm: this is possible thanks to the particular profiling device of the building spiral which makes the silo stronger and permits the construction of bigger silos.

It is not possible to use such a thick steel plate far the building of corrugated silos (if this is done, it is against the rules and very expensive), since the profiling of panels and the successive calandering process would attack the zinc -plating coat of the silo itself.

The "LIPP" silo has an inside flat smooth wall, a very important device which avoids stagnation of dust and product (that usually forms in the recesses of the corrugated walls causing proliferation of moulds and insects) and which permits a more versatile use.

In fact, it is possible to change from grain storing to the storing of barley, maize, soja or oat meal without any expensive washing process of the inside cells of the silo.

Furthermore, by equipping the cell with an appropriate extractor, it will be also possible to change to the storing of powders (such as flours, meals, bran products, aggregates, etc.) without modifying the original structure of the tank.

The "LIPP" silo can be built with an absolute air- watertight system: this advantage allows to storage also liquid products as well as being extremely useful for the storing of cereal products themselves.

It is well known that the disinfestations with toxic gases (such as "Phostoxin") are very expensive and that they are really effective only if made in air watertight silos. The reason is due to the gases given out by the special tablets, that are put into the product, must stay in the cell for at least 3-4 days to get the bacterium’s destroyed; otherwise the treatment will be ineffective.

This kind of sealed silos is much more useful if we think that the disinfestations of cereals with toxic gases is going to be banned by C.E.E. because of the poisonous action they are supposed to have on products.

For this reason, another cereal preserving system will be adopted by using inert gases such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide.

B.S.P. Engineering has already adopted this system for the building of the Molino Pivetti and it is advertised all over the world.

With the "LIPP" system it is also possible to use all the press bent metallic alloys: Inox, Platinox, Galvanized steel, Black steel, etc. and when required also painted during the construction of the silos itself.

This way, the user can choose the kind of steel he prefers according to his necessities and desires (aesthetic aspects, building licenses, environmental friendly etc.) and, at the same time, he will be able to use these tanks far the storing of any kind o f product (liquid, thick or solid).

In the end but not the last “LIPP” silo differently from corrugated one is suitable to any kind of bull storage; that it means: aggregates (like cements, coal, gypsum, carbonates, etc), sludge, biomasses, chemical-plastic products and liquids.
